Life motto: I’m a self-confessed quote addict! I guess you could say that I’m a big believer that “it’s the little things in life”, and little things like short positive quotes hold a big impact in my attitude and resilience towards every day.

If I had to pick just one overall though that drives my life, it would definitely be “Veni, Vedi, Vici”; Latin for “I came, I saw, I conquered”. I hold myself to this in that I choose to face every challenge or experience head on [Veni, courage], I’ll give my best to everything I face [Vedi, strength] and strive to achieve every dream and overcome every obstacle [Vici, determination].

What does being Australian mean to you?: Being Australian holds a multifarious meaning to me; Moving to Australia as an immigrant, I was lucky enough to initially get an ‘outside’ perspective into the country and the multicultural people who call it home - and this helped drive the deep appreciation I hold for our country now.

Being Australian to me means living in a society where you are free to be whoever you wish to be, do whatever you want to do, and however you want to do it. It means being not only inclusive and respectful of one another, but even more so to embrace and share our differences. It also means to look after one another and pick up those who need it - the ‘mateship’ that we are so famous for.

Being Australian also means to work hard to achieve what you desire, and then to take time to enjoy it. To quote our own Sally Fitsgibbons, “Being Australian means being passionate wherever you are, whatever you’re doing” and it’s certainly true - anything we do, we do it with passion and pride. Passion for our own dreams, passion for each other, passion for our hobbies and everything we are free to enjoy, and most importantly being proud and passionate to all be representatives of our beautiful country.
